Botswana

October 2017,  I was privileged to attend the Project volunteer summer program.  Project Volunteer work in partnership with SOS Children’s Villages International, a global federation of 116 national associations that support children without parental care.

The aim of the two charities is  to achieve a single vision’ that every child grows with love, security and respect.’ Generous friends, family  and colleagues donated  to  support this cause. The trip is fully self funded  by the volunteers, accommodation is  kindly hosted  at the villages. All the money raised went directly to support the children.  Project Volunteer (PV) is run by volunteers,  reducing the need to spend donations on charity administration, a great cause.

PV  create the opportunity for volunteers to get involved for 10 days on the ground running a summer activities programme with the children and outreach community projects. Meeting the children and the teams that support them was simply  one of the most rewarding  experiences. The joy and hope the children bring despite their circumstances  is inspiring.

After some sad farewells with the children at the 3 villages;  Francis Town, Serowe and Gaborone.  I headed North to check out some of  Africas largest elephant population at the Chobe national park
